CoBioRes (Collaborative Biotech Research) was founded in 2013 by emeritus professor Désiré Collen and is funded by Life Science Research Partners (LSRP).  The laboratories and offices of CoBioRes are currently located at Campus Gasthuisberg, providing an excellent environment for scientific interactions.

CoBioRes aims to valorize promising academic research in the field of medicine and to translate this research into projects that are ready for business development.  CoBioRes has 2 projects in its pipeline.  One is focusing on the development of minimally toxic prodrugs of existing chemotherapies.  The other project is evaluating the therapeutic potential of Placental Growth Factor (PIGF) in cardiovascular disease.  CoBioRes is actively looking at interesting new research projects that fit the strategy of the company in order to fill the pipeline.

Cumulus is the first oncology drug development accelerator in Europe.  It develops new oncology treatments that target the unmet medical needs of specific cancer patient populations.

Founded by a team with in-depth oncology expertise and proven commercial success, Cumulus brings a powerful innovative ‘hub and spoke’ approach to the European market for the first time.  After a rigorous two-year long asset search, focusing on key molecular vulnerabilities and scientific credentials, Cumulus has curated and created a number of oncology biotech spin-out companies, with other opportunities under review.

Rather than targeting the immune system, Grey Wolf’s approach is to directly alter the tumour cells, illuminating them for attack and destruction by the immune system: targeting the endoplasmic reticulum aminopeptidase (ERAP1) in the antigen presentation pathway to drive modulation of the neoantigen repertoire on tumour cells, thus dramatically increasing tumour visibility and extending the reach of immunotherapy in oncology.

Modulus Oncology Ltd (Modulus) is an innovative spinout company created by a funding team of scientists from the University of Sheffield (TUOS) and an impressive line-up of successful biotech entrepreneurs.  Modulus has developed first-in-class antagonists of a G protein-couples receptor, the adrenomedullin 2 receptor (AM₂R), for the treatment of cancer.  The research underpinning Modulus arose from a sophisticated drug discovery project made possible by the Wellcome Trust’s (WT) ‘seeding drug discovery’ initiative.  The deep scientific insights of the TUOS founding team into the biology of the AM₂R in tandem with a collaborative academic and pharma industry drug discovery approach has resulted in the exciting small molecule asset portfolio of AM₂R antagonists at Modulus.
